Program 2022/2023/2024
Program I “Folk”
Well before the advent of the drum machine or even the piano, there was folk music. These rich musical traditions have been inspiring composers of art music for centuries. Originally played on fiddle or shepherd’s flute, Bartok’s Romanian dances, connect your soul to the colors and traditions of Transylvania. In turn, Bulgarian folklor’s richness of rhythm, melody and patriotism, reflect fully in Vladigerov’s Vardar and Georgi Zlatev – Cherkin’s Sevdana. Grieg’s Sonata is his personal favorite. He built it on Norwegian folk melodies and rhythms.
